Deepseeded Community Farm Tour, Gathering & IPM Workshop
NEW DATE: Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM * An event for local farmers, farmworkers and food sovereignty gardeners 2507 Wyatt Ln, Arcata What’s New & Unique on the Farm: Deepseeded Farm is officially in its 18th harvest season! They recently completed the installation of a 1/2-acre NRCS-funded high tunnel. This massive new space has allowed them to dive into variety trialing and experiment with new CSA crops, including early and late flowers, cucumbers, early strawberries, edamame, and even table grapes. Workshop Details: Eddie will lead a mini-workshop focused on Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Together, we’ll walk the fields to learn how to identify common agricultural pests, spot their natural enemies, and understand how to manage their habitats effectively. Notes: Snacks will be provided by NCGA. Please note that heavy rain will cancel this event. |

Brunner Family Farm Tour, Gathering & Natural Dye Workshop

What’s New & Unique on the Farm: Brunner Family Farm integrates permaculture and ecological stewardship to produce seasonal food, flowers, pastured meats, and fiber from their angora goats. Thanks to a recent CDFA Farm to School Incubator Grant, they have made major infrastructure updates, including two new 100-foot hoop houses with automated ventilation, a new agricultural well, and a multifunctional solar support structure known as the “Learning Barn," which serves as a solar hub, outdoor classroom, community space, and wash/pack facility.
Workshop Details: Sarah will be transforming the Learning Barn into a temporary dye studio! We will learn about the process of naturally dyeing mohair yarn using farm-grown plants like marigolds.
What to bring: You are encouraged to bring a small item of your own to dye (yarn, socks, bandanas, or fabric scraps). Note: Items must be 100% natural plant or animal fiber for the best results!
Logistics & Parking: Parking limited to 15–20 cars, and street parking is not ideal. Carpooling is highly encouraged!

Please join us for the NCGA Fall Gathering on Sunday, Sept 14th, 2025 at Luna Farm: 3345 Dyerville Loop Rd, Redcrest. This event is for NCGA Members, Regional Farmers and Crew, Food Sovereignty Gardeners & Friends of the organization! 11:15am-12pm. Come early for a no-cost workshop on Soil Nutrients by Luke Bessemer, CR lecturer. 12pm-1pm: Farm Tour by Amy and Fred featuring their story of Organic Certification. 1-3pm: Gather and enjoy live music by Daniel Nickerson + friends, plus pizza generously provided by Pizza Gago. Please bring a potluck topping to contribute to the pizzas. Kids and family welcome. Make this a Zero Waste event by bringing your own cups, plates and silverware if you can.
