Benefits refer to the monthly allotments that individuals and families receive to supplement their food purchases. This is money that is taken from the federal government and injected directly into our local economy through farmers' markets and other food access points. |
Incentive programs offer additional funding to purchase food to customers who qualify
NCGA offers a Market Match incentive at our farmers' markets to SNAP customers, and farmers accept WIC checks (Women, Infant, Children), SFMNP checks (Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program), veggie prescription bucks from Open Door Community Health Center (yes, they can prescribe healthy food for chronic illnesses!), and Market Match vouchers distributed by community partners like Food for People |
