Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the North Coast Growers’ Association (NCGA)! Volunteering with the NCGA is a great way to give back to your community while helping to support small-scale agriculture and strengthen our local food system.
Our non-profit, membership-based organization has been managing farmers’ markets in Humboldt County for over almost 40 years. Our small staff is committed to the health and financial security of our small family farmers. Every season we strive for continual improvement in our market operations as the local community, economy, environment, and farmers grow and adjust with the times.
Our volunteer opportunities are more diverse than ever. Whether you enjoy being on the farm, at the farmers’ market, at special events or in the office, we have opportunities that can fit your interests.
Here are brief descriptions of some of the volunteer opportunities available. We value your time and respect your need to only volunteer where you feel safe in these times of COVID-19. We invite you to ask us about the systems that we have in place to keep you safe and we encourage you to ask for what you need to feel comfortable.
Farmers’ Market Assistant. This position is available year-round at our farmers market sites in Willow Creek, McKinleyville, Arcata, Eureka (3 sites/week), Fortuna, Garberville, and Miranda. Farmers' market assistants help exchange CalFresh (EBT) dollars for wooden tokens and help with various other market tasks like set-up, break-down and special events.
Harvest Box Team. Help our staff develop and implement our new and innovative Harvest Box program by packing produce boxes (usually on Friday afternoons) or by helping with at-market distribution at our Arcata Plaza Farmers' Market on Saturdays.
We thank you for your time and interest in volunteering with us! Please feel free to contact us at any time with any additional questions that may come up about our volunteer opportunities. firstname.lastname@example.org
