Describe your farming and ranching experience:
We each bring diverse farming backgrounds from experiences across California, Arizona, and Europe. We’ve been working together since we began co-managing a small homestead and farm in Northern Humboldt County. Susana began her farming journey in Europe, working on a 20-acre Demeter-certified biodynamic farm in Germany through the WWOOF program. In Galicia, Spain, she supported vineyard harvests, participated in community gardening, and worked as a wildland firefighter — gaining valuable land management and fire prevention skills. In the U.S., she worked with small farms, vineyards, and greenhouse production in Trinity County before helping develop a 2-acre off-grid homestead in Northern Humboldt County focused on food production, composting, and ecological restoration. Later on, supporting farms and agricultural projects through knowledge sharing.
Victoria started with an internship on a vegetable farm in Ireland and went on to work as a farmhand in Oregon and with farms in Southern Humboldt before co-developing a 2 acre off-grid homestead in Northern Humboldt. She later took on managerial roles in large-scale agricultural operations in Northern Arizona and Southern California, where she gained experience overseeing large teams, infrastructure, and production systems. Together, we’ve contributed to a land regeneration project in Concho, AZ, where we implemented soil fertility, natural weed management, and native plant restoration. We also co-founded Horticulture Gnomes, a grassroots project that helped local families build and maintain backyard gardens using regenerative methods. We are both graduates of the Soil Food Web School, trained in soil biology and compost systems, and we completed a Permaculture Design Course through Oregon State University.
Beyond farming, we’ve supported farms and land projects in New Mexico, Southern Arizona, and Southern California, especially those transitioning to living soil systems and ecological farming approaches. We have experience maintaining farm infrastructure and rural properties, including fence repair, water system upkeep, and basic carpentry. Our time managing off-grid homesteads has given us practical skills in handling diverse challenges such as water sourcing, solar power maintenance, and land stewardship in remote settings. This hands-on knowledge ensures we can keep the property well-maintained and aligned with the landholder’s vision for long-term care. As a team, we bring a blend of production experience, land care, leadership, and community-based education. Our shared focus is on building biologically healthy farms that regenerate soil, support local food systems, and sustain the long-term health of the land.

Describe your proposed farm or ranch business (or how your business will expand.) Include what you will produce, for which markets, with what practices, and at what scale.
We are seeking to establish a small-scale regenerative farm focused on soil health, diverse crop production, and community involvement. Our goal is to start with 1–2 acres in active production and scale up to 5 acres over time, depending on the land, infrastructure, and market fit. We plan to use living soil principles and avoid synthetic inputs, drawing from our training with the Soil Food Web School and experience working in permaculture, organic, and regenerative systems across diverse climates. Alongside produce, we aim to develop a compost system to support on-farm fertility and share microbial inoculants with neighboring growers. We’re also interested in participating in on-farm research and land restoration efforts, using ecological approaches to regenerate soil, manage weeds without chemicals, and improve overall ecosystem health. We plan to be active in the local agricultural community through farmers markets, farm-to-table collaborations, and educational outreach. Our target markets include local farmers markets, nearby restaurants and grocers, and direct-to-consumer sales through a CSA or farm stand. As we scale, we’ll explore additional outlets such as small-scale wholesale, collaborative farm box programs, or educational offerings—depending on community needs and the property’s potential. In addition to food production, we’re committed to long-term land care: rebuilding soil biology, restoring weedy or neglected areas, and maintaining infrastructure in partnership with the landholder’s vision. We also intend to document and share our research findings on soil biology, product nutrient density, and regenerative practices with other farmers and professionals, contributing to the broader community’s learning and progress.
